Our Mission and Beliefs

Restore Sight is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide free surgical and medical eyecare to adults and children in need throughout Central America. We are committed to restoring vision, transforming futures, and bringing hope to communities with little or no access to healthcare. Restore Sight believes in:

Strengthening global medical collaboration
By fostering relationships among doctors, residents, nurses, and medical staff across different countries, we help advance medical knowledge and promote shared learning.

Building lasting relationships with local communities
We cultivate cultural understanding, respect, and trust-creating long-term bonds with our patients and local partners that extend far beyond a single mission trip.

Upholding true nonprofit values
We remain committed to responsible stewardship, transparency, and ensuring that every dollar directly supports patient care and mission-driven work.

Providing meaningful volunteer experiences
We offer our volunteers the deeply rewarding opportunity to give back, share their expertise, and enrich the lives of people around the world.

Why Central America?

We concentrate our efforts in other countries because, in the United States, sight restoring surgeries and modern medical advancements are readily available and often covered by insurance. In many countries, however, these same procedures simply do not exist. They are inaccessible, unaffordable, or years behind current medical standards.

Your support allows us to bring these advanced, life changing treatments directly to adults and children who otherwise would have no access to care. Because of you, people who once lived without hope can now see again and rebuild their lives with dignity and opportunity.

While Central America remains a vital focus of our mission, our vision reaches beyond any one region. We are committed to going wherever the need is greatest, bringing sight restoring care, training, and hope to underserved communities around the world. As Restore Sight grows, we look forward to expanding our impact to other areas where access to advanced eye care is limited or nonexistent.

Our Medical Mission Team

Restore Sight’s missions are staffed by medical and non-medical volunteers working alongside our partners at the Lions Club International to deliver sight-saving care.

Our medical teams, often including surgeons, residents, nurses, and surgical techs are tailored to each country’s needs and provide advanced procedures to adults and children who would otherwise go without care.

Non-medical volunteers are equally essential. They support patients in pre and post-op areas, assist with glasses distribution, manage supplies, and help document each trip. Local student translators also play a vital role, helping us communicate with patients while gaining valuable experience in the medical field.

Together, our volunteers bring hope, healing, and the gift of sight to thousands each year.

Educational Impact

Restore Sight has been instrumental in educating future residents and students through its global outreach. Every surgical mission trip is usually accompanied by multiple ophthalmology residents, medical students, and various college and even high school students who have an interest in healthcare. Through direct interaction with such personnel, our organization has cultivated and nurtured lifelong learning in tackling complex ocular medical and surgical issues. These experiences strengthen and inspire future leaders to transform and bridge the gap across borders and countries.

Additionally, we continuously support local healthcare providers in the countries we visit by teaching them new techniques, fostering lifelong collaborations, and enhancing their own experiences. By doing so, we are building bridges and strengthening their skills to continue caring for their patients long after we are gone.

How Your Generosity Helps

Your donation goes where it matters most, directly to patient care. At Restore Sight, we are committed to using your donation with integrity and purpose. As a nonprofit, financial stewardship is central to our mission. We carefully manage expenses to ensure that the majority of every gift directly supports patient care, surgical supplies, medical equipment, and essential mission related needs.
