Changing Lives.
Restore Sight provides surgical and medical vision care to adults and children in need around the world. Many of those we serve lack even the most basic elements of healthcare. Modern medical procedures, routine in the United States, are an unattainable luxury for thousands of families in these underserved communities. Your generosity makes it possible for Restore Sight to bring this essential care directly to them.
During each mission trip, up to 500 adults and children are screened. Depending on their needs, patients are scheduled for surgery or provided with glasses donated by our generous supporters, which immediately improve their vision. Surgical procedures include cataract removal, glaucoma treatment, retinal disease management, and eyelid surgeries.
Since 2002, nearly 6,000 adults and children have received the gift of sight through these life changing operations, and tens of thousands more have been positively impacted by our care. Restoring vision does far more than improve eyesight. It strengthens families, empowers individuals to return to work and school, and helps entire communities thrive.
Your support makes this transformation possible. With renewed vision, patients can once again care for their families, pursue education, and build brighter futures. Together, we are saving eyes and changing lives for generations to come.
Our Founder
Restore Sight was founded by the late Dr. Michael David Sifri, a compassionate ophthalmologist whose vision and humanity continue to guide our mission today. After more than twelve years participating in medical missions throughout Central America, Dr. Sifri saw firsthand the overwhelming need for quality eye care among people living in poverty. Driven by his unwavering belief that everyone deserves the gift of sight, he created Restore Sight to bring hope and healing to underserved communities around the world.
Through his partnership with the Lions Club and the dedication of countless physicians, residents, nurses, technicians, and volunteers, Dr. Sifri helped transform thousands of lives- restoring not only vision but also dignity and opportunity. He often said, “We provide more than just restored sight; we restore hope,” a sentiment that continues to define our work.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Dr. Sifri dedicated more than 30 years to caring for patients at his ophthalmology practice. He was deeply loved for his tireless commitment to others, his contagious laughter, and his boundless generosity of spirit.
Dr. Sifri passed away on March 7, 2024. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in the countless patients, families, and volunteers whose lives have been touched by his compassion and vision. Today, Restore Sight continues the work he began, honoring his life, his mission, and his belief that sight changes everything.
